Privacy Policy
What we collect, why, and what happens to it. No dark patterns and no paragraph designed to be skipped.
Effective
This policy covers madeyouhungry.com. It describes what we collect when you use this website, why, and what happens to it. It is written to be read rather than to be survived.
What we collect, and when
When you send a quote request
The quote form asks for your name, email address, and phone number, along with the details of your event: the type of event, the date, the location, guest count, the services and cuisine you are interested in, dietary requirements, a budget range, how you would like to be contacted, and anything you write in the notes field.
We collect it for one reason — to prepare your quote and reply to you. We ask for nothing on that form that we do not need in order to answer you.
When you send it, two things happen: your request is saved to our enquiry system, and it is emailed to us. Both, deliberately — an email can fail to arrive, and we would rather hold your request twice than lose it and leave you waiting for a reply that is never coming. You also get a confirmation email so you have a record that it reached us.
One further thing is recorded with your request, and it is worth being precise about: to stop automated abuse of the form, we save a one-way scrambled fingerprint of the internet address it was sent from. It cannot be turned back into an address, we do not store the address itself, and it is used for nothing but counting how many requests came from one place in an hour.
When you simply browse
Our hosting provider records standard server logs, which include IP addresses and the pages requested. That is ordinary infrastructure logging, it is how any website stays online and secure, and we do not use it to identify individual visitors.
If website analytics is enabled, we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. It is configured to anonymise IP addresses and to switch off Google's advertising and personalisation signals, so it measures traffic rather than building a profile of you. It sets cookies in your browser to do that. If analytics is not enabled on this deployment, no analytics script loads at all and no such cookies are set.
Who else sees it
- Resend
- Our email provider. A quote request is delivered to us as an email through Resend, which means it passes through and is retained by their systems the way any email does.
- Vercel
- Our hosting provider. They serve this website and keep the standard server logs described above.
- Neon
- Our database provider. Our enquiry system runs on a database they host, which is where your quote request is saved. It is not public, and it is reachable only by our own team.
- Google Analytics
- Only if analytics is enabled. It receives the pages you view and the things you click: links, buttons, menu filters, and menu downloads. It records how far through the quote form you got and whether it sent successfully. What it never receives is anything you type that identifies you — not your name, email, phone number, address, or notes. Where a form event needs detail, it carries the shape of the enquiry: the event type, the services selected, and the guest count.
- Google Maps Platform
- We show our Google review rating and recent reviews. Those are fetched by our server, not by your browser, so visiting this site does not by itself report you to Google.
That is the whole list. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not send it anywhere else.
Where it is kept, and for how long
Your quote request lives in two places: our enquiry system, which is a private database, and our email inbox. The enquiry system is how we keep track of where your request has got to — whether we have replied, arranged a tasting, or sent a quote — and it records which member of our team made each of those changes.
It is not open to the public and there is no sign-up. Only named members of our team can reach it, each signing in with their own Google account, and an account that we have not added in advance is refused.
We keep enquiries for as long as we may reasonably need them: to quote for you, to cater your event, and afterwards for our business records. There is no fixed expiry date, and we would rather say so than publish a schedule we do not keep. When an enquiry is no longer useful to us, we delete it — and if you ask us to delete yours, we remove it from both the enquiry system and our inbox.
Cookies
Browsing this site sets no cookies of our own. The only cookies you can pick up as a visitor are Google Analytics cookies, and only when analytics is enabled. Your browser can block or delete them, and the site works exactly the same if you do. There is no advertising tracking on this website.
There is one cookie of ours, and you will never meet it: a sign-in cookie set for our own staff when they log in to the private enquiry system. It is set only after signing in, only for our team, and it plays no part in an ordinary visit.
Your choices
- Ask us what we hold about you, and we will tell you.
- Ask us to correct something that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete your enquiry, and we will, unless we are required to keep it for tax or legal reasons.
- Ask us to stop contacting you, at any point, and we will stop.
- Block analytics cookies in your browser, or use its Do Not Track or equivalent setting.
Email or call us using the details below and a person will deal with it. You do not need to use any particular wording.
Children
This site is aimed at people booking catering, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something through this site, contact us and we will delete it.
Security, honestly stated
The site is served over HTTPS and quote requests are transmitted encrypted. The enquiry system they are saved to is private, reachable only by named members of our team signing in with their own accounts, and it is not indexed by search engines. Email, however, is email: once a copy of your enquiry is in an inbox it has the security of ordinary business email, not of a vault. Please do not send us payment card details, government identification numbers, or medical information through this form. If we need anything sensitive, we will arrange a safer way to send it.
Changes
If we change how this website handles your information, we will update this page and the date at the top of it. We will not make a change here and pretend it was always the case.
